AKA: Artie, Miss Artie, Missy 4-Paws, Bossy Paws, Artie-Mouse, Artemis Asparagus.
Occupation: Office Manager, House Mistress
Likes: asparagus, broccoli, faucets, licking the other cats’ heads, playing with the blinds.

Artemis is sister of Goldenrod. They were both rescued by me when they were about 3 weeks old. Like her brother, Artie has cardiomyopathy, although so far luckily hers is mild and she is asymptomatic. The vets say that this is genetic since both littermates have heart disease. We are monitoring her heart with ultrasounds, and she is getting heart tonic herbs and nutritional supplements.

Artemis is the boss of our household. She runs things and makes sure that none of the other cats get out of line; if they do she gives them a whack upside the head. The whacking usually happens when she is washing someone’s head and they move a whisker the wrong way, although at this point whenever Ms. Artie gets that head-washing gleam in her eye the other cats visibly wince because they know what is coming.

I realize this makes Artemis sound like a big bully, which she is not. She’s just trying to keep things the way she wants them. She also bosses me, this is part of her job. Artemis is a one person cat. She adores me, and I only hope that I’m worthy. Other people will do in a pinch but she is totally focused on me. I think this is because she was rescued so young that in her mind, I actually am her mother. She is a handful and I love her.
