calypso schlautzberg

Calypso showed up at my work in January 2003; he had been beat up by another cat and was a mess with deep wounds on his face and a slit in the inner corner of his eye. Two co-workers and I decided we needed to rescue him and took him to the vet, where he was neutered and had his wounds cleaned up. I contacted the S.P.C.A. and did other things to try to find out who his humans were but noone ever claimed him, so I took him home ostensibly as a foster cat. But he just fit right in (funny how that happens), and since Goldenrod said it was okay, Mr. C. stayed. Pan and Mr. C. also are great friends and spend a good deal of time roughhousing and chasing eachother.

Calypso is unafraid of most anything, including dogs, which he terrorizes. He also has a bad penchant for wandering. Fortunately we live in a quiet, rural area. We have met a lot people in our neighborhood that we didn’t previously know because Calypso gets around. I know that if one didn’t know the situation it would seem like we’re being irresponsible by letting a cat like this outside, but Mr. C. would be one miserable kitty if he had to stay inside (not to mention he’d destroy the house). We think that Mr. C is about 3 years old based on his behavior; he loves to play, especially with one particular square felt “mouse” which he carries in his mouth while running through the house.
